Family Services Manager

Summary: The Family Services Manager is a key component to the success of LAHFH in delivering its mission by attracting applicants, selecting partner families, training partner families in the responsibilities of homeownership, monitoring payment histories, following up with delinquencies, and maintaining life-long relationships with partner families. Reports to Executive Director.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Family Support Services and Family Selection Process

  • Provide staff support for the family selection committee to include identifying prospective families for approval by the Board of Directors as Partner Families.
  • Field inquiries and processing requests for family applicants.
  • Develop and maintain curriculum and an education plan to ensure families successful transition into homeownership.
  • Develop a team of volunteers to work with families for the 1st year after becoming homeowners
  • Prepare all closing documents.
  • Facilitate House Dedications
  • Complete walk-through of house pre-closing.
  • Manage the organization’s mortgage portfolio, providing late notices and setting up meetings with delinquent homeowners and appropriate staff and volunteers.
  • Provide communication support between partner families and the organization.

Communication and Marketing

  • Develop and execute a marketing plan to ensure an adequate flow of homebuyer applicants.
  • Work with partner families to develop and document their “Habitat stories”.
  • Provide marketing website and social media updates regarding family services (application openings).
  • Ensure proper media coverage for ground-breaking and home dedications.
  • Develop and distribute flyers, brochures, and invitations to special events.

Administrative Support

  • Maintain the family partners within the database and files. Ensure homebuyer applicant files are accurate, complete, and compliant with housing laws.
  • Prepare documents for grant programs such as HFHMN down payment assistance.
  • Assist the organization’s executive and management in special projects or duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Specifications for the Position

  • Four years business, financial, nonprofit, or social services experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training and/or experience
  • Proven record of accomplishments with prior employers
  • Must pass requirements of HFH qualified loan originator
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with people of diverse social and economic backgrounds
  • Communication and relationship-building
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office or similar software as well as use of databases, online tools, and office equipment
  • Confidentiality

Performance Indicators (expected outcomes)

  • Provide a full-spectrum of service to partner families from application through satisfaction of mortgage
  • Adequate pool of homebuyer applicants with partner families selected at least six months before home building projects start
  • Effective family support and family selection committees
  • Partner families’ involvement in the organizations committees, activities and events.
  • A positive life changing experience by partner families as they transition into homeownership
  • Improved understanding of homeownership responsibilities/care of homes
  • Timely completion of sweat equity hours by partner families
  • New partnerships and presenters established for partner family education
  • Increased attendance by supporters, partner families and general public at events
  • Provide family services content for quality brochures, flyers and publications.

Full-Time position, somewhat flexible hours.  Outside meetings and presentations required.  Some evening/weekend work required.

Salary/Benefits: Salary range: $55,000-$65,000. Vacation, holidays, 401k, health insurance, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance and other benefits per the established policies.
