Meet Josh and Isabell: Building a Future Together 

Joshua and Isabell are a devoted couple working hard to create a better life for their blended family of five. With three beautiful children, they’ve shared the dream of raising their kids under one roof, where they can grow, thrive, and make memories that last a lifetime. Currently, Josh lives with the older kids at his parents’ home, while Isabell and her son stay at her parents’ house. Weekends are spent traveling between homes, supporting one another, and making it all work—together.

When they learned about the opportunity to partner with Lakes Area Habitat for Humanity, Josh and Isabell saw a path toward stability, unity, and the American Dream. For Josh, who has faced barriers due to a criminal record, the road to secure housing has been difficult. Rental opportunities are scarce, and the challenges of raising children while living apart are heavy. “This home is a helping hand from God,” Josh shared. “We never imagined owning a home would be possible—but now it is.”

This Habitat home represents more than just a roof over their heads. It is the foundation for their future. Josh and Isabell look forward to building generational wealth, raising emotionally healthy kids in a stable environment, and creating a space that is entirely their own. Most importantly, it means they will finally be able to live together as a family—something their children have never had the chance to experience fully.

From their very first meeting with the Lakes Area Habitat team, Josh and Isabell say they’ve felt supported and encouraged every step of the way. “We feel we are in good hands,” they shared. “This is more than just a house—it’s a chance to build a life we’ve always dreamed of.” Or, as Isabell puts it: “Ten years from now, make sure you can say you chose this life. You did not settle for it.”
