Meet Liz.
Liz is a proud single mom of three remarkable kids.
Her oldest is a high-achieving high school senior deeply involved in sports, National Honor Society, and anti-bullying initiatives. Her middle child is a spunky, nurturing preschooler, and her youngest has already faced-and overcome-more medical challenges than most people face in a lifetime, including major surgeries.
Their family is rooted in resilience, love, and an unwavering belief that brighter days are ahead. Thanks to Habitat for Humanity, those days are finally within reach.
Their current home is unsafe. Mold threatens her children’s health, especially her youngest, and the home is nearly impossible to cool in the summer and expensive to heat in the winter. Liz applied for a Habitat home with one dream in mind: to give her children a safe, stable place to call their own.
“l’ve always said l wanted to own my own home by the time my oldest graduated,” she shares, “So, they would always have a place to come home to.”
Liz’s path hasn’t been easy. She fought her way through addiction and has been clean for years. The most difficult chapter came recently when medical challenges with her youngest kept her from working for nearly a year. Without the help of her sister and siblings, she says she would have been homeless. But today, Liz is thriving-she’s working a job she loves, surrounded by people who uplift and support her. “Things are finally working out as I had hoped. It was in God’s time, and I see that now.”
For Liz, a Habitat home represents so much more than shelter. It means peace of mind. It means freedom from the constant worry about health hazards and housing instability. Most importantly, it means she can give her children a solid foundation and a future filled with hope. “Honestly, this is my dream-and it’s coming true.”
