Meet Sunny.

A Foundation of Love: Sunny’s Story

Sunny’s home is filled with love, laughter, and a whole lot of life. As a single mother raising a large, blended family—including her own children, a bonus daughter, and a young granddaughter—Sunny has stepped up in every way possible to provide stability and care. “Whether she was born from me or not,” Sunny says of her bonus daughter and granddaughter, “it is my duty to be there as a mother to them as well.” Her unwavering sense of responsibility and compassion defines everything she does. What she needs now is a home that reflects the strength and love her family already shares.

For years, Sunny has pushed through hardship, holding her family together through unstable housing situations and doing her best to create consistency. Encouraged by her father—who reminded her that Habitat was made for people just like her, people who work hard and need a hand up—Sunny applied for a Habitat for Humanity home. “I’m ready,” she says. “Ready to have a home forever. For my son to have his own room. For my girls to have space to play. For all of us to be able to sit around the table together.”

To Sunny, this isn’t just a house. It’s the peace her family has long needed. It’s a place to build memories, to find rest, and to grow in love and stability. “It brings structure, stability, and consistency,” she writes. “It’s a place built on love that will be ours for the rest of time.” And more than anything, it gives her the chance to pass something down to her children—security, pride, and the comfort of always having a place to come home to.

“Everything else is an extra blessing,” Sunny says. “I prayed for all of my babies, and I was answered with each of my four gifts.” With faith, determination, and the support of the Habitat community, Sunny is now building something extraordinary—a future her family will cherish for generations.
